Hi, I’m Karissa! I have always loved animals as a child and always felt connected to them. I always say that my spirit animal is a wolf! I started at Blue Grass Vet in 2021 as a receptionist, then I was promoted to an assistant. I am currently enrolled in Penn Foster college to work towards my Veterinary Technology Certification and licensure.
Hi, I’m Karissa! I have always loved animals as a child and always felt connected to them. My first dog was a Maltese named “Snowball” who I had as a companion for over 10 years. When I lost her, I became worried that this field would be too much for me emotionally, so that fear steered me into a different direction in life. In summer of 2021, my family and I rescued a group of kittens along with their mom. I fostered those kittens, spending as much time with them as they needed so they could get used to human hands in order to get them adopted. Once they were ready, I gave them back to the shelter and watched them all find their forever homes. It was very rewarding and it was something I could see myself doing forever, so this led me to finding Blue Grass Veterinary Hospital in need of a receptionist. I am always open to learning new things and working on my skills, which got me promoted to assistant! I love what I do and everything I have learned here will follow me as I continue my education in this field. I am currently enrolled in Penn Foster College to work towards my Veterinary Technology Certification and licensure. I am supported by my husband, Evan, our daughter, and our 5 pets! We have 3 dogs, Shade, Astro and Rune, along with 2 cats, Anakin and Obi-Wan. Our goal is to have a farm filled with cows, ducks, dogs, cats, goats and chickens.
